  • Describe clearly: The description on a time entry appears directly on the invoice. Write it as if the client will read it — because they will.

  • Record in real time: Use the timer. Reconstructing time at the end of the day or week leads to under-recording and lost billing.

  • 6-minute rounding: CaseConnect rounds to the nearest unit automatically. For brief calls (under 3 minutes), consider whether 1 unit is appropriate to record or whether to include it in a later, longer attendance.

  • Non-billable time still matters: Recording non-billable time (e.g. internal meetings, training) gives your firm accurate data on profitability per matter.
