Templates vs Precedents — few vs many

CaseConnect deliberately separates two things:

	Templates	Precedents
What it is	The shell — layout, letterhead, merge fields	The legal content — the actual worded document or clauses
How many	Few (a handful per firm)	Many (one per scenario)
Organised by	Document type (letter, file note, email)	Practice area, folder, tags
Who maintains it	Firm Admin / a template builder	Fee earners with legal knowledge

You should end up with roughly 5–10 templates in total — for example:

• Standard Letter (DOCX)

• File Note / Attendance Note

• Standard Email

• Court Document / Form shell

Everything scenario-specific (a letter of claim, a client care letter, a specific clause) lives as a precedent, not as its own template. If you find yourself creating a new template for every letter, stop — that content belongs in a precedent.
