Creating a Time Entry

  1. Go to Time Recording and click New Time Entry, or use the Time tab inside a matter.

  2. Fill in:

    • Matter — which matter the time relates to

    • Date — the date the work was performed

    • Duration — enter minutes or units (they convert automatically)

    • Activity code — the type of work (e.g. Attendances, Correspondence, Drafting, Research)

    • Description — a clear description of the work done (this appears on the invoice)

    • Hourly rate — auto-filled from your billing grade; you can override it

    • Billable — tick if this time will be charged to the client

  3. Optional:

    • Location — Office, Remote, Court, Client Site, etc.

    • Task — link to a specific matter task

    • Document — link to the document being worked on

    • Matter stage — for phase-based cost analysis

  4. Click Save.

Units: 6-minute units are calculated automatically from the duration you enter. For example, 15 minutes = 2.5 units. You can also type units directly.
