SharePoint Workspace Setup {#sharepoint-workspace-setup}
Editing Word documents directly from CaseConnect and generating PDF bundles both need one dedicated SharePoint site in your own Microsoft 365 — a private working area CaseConnect uses to open and save files. It is created once, by a Microsoft 365 administrator, and takes about two minutes.
Why this is a manual step: CaseConnect could ask for a broad Microsoft 365 permission that lets it create sites automatically, but that is a bigger ask of your IT/security team than it needs to be, and it depends on Microsoft tenant settings that vary firm to firm. Creating the site yourself is a completely ordinary SharePoint admin task, keeps CaseConnect's access narrowly scoped to that one site, and takes about the same two minutes either way.
You only need to do this once per firm. It must be done by someone with SharePoint administrator or Global administrator rights in your Microsoft 365 tenant — usually the same person who completed the "Connect Microsoft 365" step above.
Step 1 — Create the site
Go to the SharePoint admin center: sign in at admin.microsoft.com, then go to Admin centers → SharePoint (or go directly to
https://<yourtenant>-admin.sharepoint.com).[Screenshot: SharePoint admin center, left-hand navigation showing "Active sites"]
In the left-hand menu, select Sites → Active sites.
Click + Create.

Choose Communication site — not "Team site" (a Team site also creates a Microsoft 365 group, a mailbox, and a Microsoft Teams team you won't use; a Communication site is a plain SharePoint site with none of that extra clutter).
Name the site exactly:
CaseConnect WorkspaceChoose any layout (e.g. "Topic") — it makes no difference, CaseConnect only uses the site's document library.
Under site classification/permissions, leave defaults as they are (you can skip adding extra owners/members — CaseConnect is the only thing that needs to use this site).
Click Finish.

The site takes a minute or two to finish setting up.
Step 2 — Copy the site's address
Once created, click into the new site.
Copy its address from the browser's address bar. It will look like:
https://yourfirm.sharepoint.com/sites/CaseConnectWorkspace[Screenshot: browser address bar showing the new site's URL]
Step 3 — Connect it in CaseConnect
In CaseConnect, go to Settings → Microsoft 365.
Under SharePoint workspace, paste the site address into the box.
Click Connect site.

The status will change to Ready within a few seconds. Word document editing and PDF bundle generation are now available for everyone at your firm.
Troubleshooting
Message | What it means |
|---|---|
"That doesn't look like a SharePoint site URL" | Check you copied the address of the site itself, not the Microsoft 365 admin center or your tenant's home page. |
"That looks like your tenant's root address, not a specific site" | You pasted your tenant's main address (e.g. |
"CaseConnect couldn't find a SharePoint site at..." | The site may still be finishing setup — wait a minute and try again. Otherwise, double-check the address matches the site exactly. |
If none of these resolve it, contact your Microsoft 365 administrator to confirm the site exists and is accessible, or reach out to CaseConnect support.
