Branches (Multiple Offices)
If an organisation contact — a client, an opposing law firm, a chambers — has more than one office, record each one as a branch. This matters most for correspondence and billing: an insurer with ten regional claims offices, or a social landlord with ten local offices, needs letters and invoices to reach the right one, not a single head-office address.
Branches are only available on Organisation, Law Firm, Government, and Court contacts — not Individuals.
To add a branch:
Open the organisation contact and go to the Branches tab.
Click Add Branch.
Enter the branch name (e.g. "Manchester Claims Office") and, optionally, a short branch code.
Tick This is the head office if it's the main/default office. Only one branch should be marked head office.
Add a direct phone and email for the branch, if it has its own.
Add the branch's own address(es) — a branch can hold postal, service, DX, and other address types, exactly like a contact can.
Click Save.
A branch with no address of its own automatically falls back to the parent organisation's address, so you only need to fill in an address for branches that genuinely differ.
Once an organisation has branches, you can select one when adding that organisation as a party to a matter — see Selecting a Branch on a Matter in the Matters guide. Correspondence and invoices for that party then go to the selected branch instead of the organisation's default address.
