Leave the date blank initially: If you know a critical date type applies but don't have the date yet, add it with a blank date. It will show as "date not set" as a reminder to fill it in.

Alert days matter: For limitation dates and court deadlines, set a longer alert window (14–28 days) so there is time to act.

Never rely on alerts alone: Alerts are a safety net. Your firm's file review processes should remain the primary method of deadline management.
